Certificates and Information Creation are responsible for designing the certificates for our talented performers and putting together all the information that gets passed along to our Peach Blossom Coordinators leading up to, and during, the festival.

    “I’m interested in the event in general. I like to plan events for family so this seems fun. I feel that I can be a positive influence on creating the event.”

    “After graduation, I plan on attending law school to one day practice as an attorney. I also plan on pursuing a PhD in Philosophy, and possibly teaching law later in the future.”
  • Why did you want to lend your talents to the Peach Blossom Festival?
    “Since it’s my last semester on campus and all of my major credits have been completed, I wanted to fill my schedule with meaningful courses that would provide me with experiences that would last after my graduation. I remember participating in the Peach Blossom Festival in elementary school myself, so I think enrolling in this course is a full circle moment!”

    “After college I plan on applying for the Madera Residency program to aim for my teaching credential. While studying I will continue working with Teaching Fellows and volunteering to gain more experience.”
  • Why did you want to lend your talents to the Peach Blossom Festival?
    “I have always loved to be involved with my community and volunteer. Last semester was the first time I ever heard of Peach Blossom and was interesting in helping. I believe this is a great opportunity for students to experience.”

Community Outreach is in charge of reaching out to the media and community as a whole to raise awareness and encourage participation in the Festival.

    “I am hoping to get my Masters at Fresno State then go on to become a Speech Pathologist!”

    “I am so excited to be able to work on Peach Blossom this year! I participated in Oral Interpretation when I was younger so I already have a love for it. Being involved in school is one of the best things a student can do at Fresno State and I am so excited to be able to put my leadership and performing skills to use!”

    “I would like to lend my talents to the Peach Blossom Festival because I think I am a very hard working and committed person. I believe I am able to give 100% to everything that I do and do it well. I also think I would enjoy being apart of Peach Blossom as a whole and to be able to expand my talents and to try new things.”

Customer Service and Recordkeeping are tasked with being the points of contact between the committee and the coordinators; they are also the team that keeps track of registration and t-shirt payments.

    “Build a career that will continue to thrive even after my time has passed. As well as hopefully being involved in groups that create change that benefit those who are disadvantage.”
  • Why did you want to lend your talents to the Peach Blossom Festival?
    “I think the main thing is the community aspect. Being involved with several people to form a group that will create an event that brings people some joy. I also want to lend my talents to this festival because granting kids a voice and a form of expression is something I think is crucial, it could also have some bias since I was one of those poetry kids. Not only that, but gaining new experiences is also really important to me, and what better group than this one.”

    I never did Peach Blossom as a kid, but it always sounded interesting. I really enjoy poetry and short stories, so being involved with the event is a great way to foster that love for other children.

    “I’ve heard amazing things coming from students who have enrolled in the course and helped facilitate the festival. I always saw the students and parents walk around so happy with their scores and listening to Fresno State students’ stories on some of their pieces. I’d love to be able to help facilitate this spring’s Peach Blossom. “

    I participated last year and it was awesome and would like to help organize it a little more.

Internal Communication carries the responsibility of touching base with the different departments within Fresno State to ensure we have enough rooms for performances, sufficient staffing for traffic operations, and entertainment for students on campus.

    I am a great communicator and would love to have everyone at ease when it comes to having all the talent at Fresno State attend the Peach Blossom Festival. I believe this year will go a lot more smoothly than last year; it’ll be more organized and put together.”

  • Why did you want to lend your talents to the Peach Blossom Festival?
    I was recommended to take this class by a student who will be leading one of the small groups within Peach Blossom. I was told that the event is much more than it appears to be, and that I would have a great time because of my extroverted personality. I heard from people outside of the university about the rich history of the event, which inspired me to pursue this class.

    I personally wanted to join Peach Blossom because I enjoy organizing events and being apart of a team. Another reason why I joined was because I wanted to be apart of something bigger than myself. The last reason why I joined was because I was attended Peach Blossom as a youth.

Registration and Scheduling has the thankless task of scheduling schools in their requested (or at least as close as possible) time slots, as well as placing all student performances in different areas of the campus.

  • Why did you want to lend your talents to the Peach Blossom Festival?
    I want to lend my talents to the Peach Blossom Festival because I understand how literature, poetry and the arts are crucial towards our students’ education. Not only does it allow them to interpret and express what they have read, but they will learn how to interpret and express themselves. I participated in Peach Blossom three times as a young student, and I had the best time learning a poem, coming up with different movements, and expressions to interpret the poem/piece of literature I picked, and I overall learned a lot of things about myself because of the Peach Blossom Festival.”

    I am taking things a day at a time. All I want is a promising career in a field where my talents can shine. But only if I am happy with the position itself.

    I really want to work on a team. I am entering the job field soon so I really want to take the opportunity now and see how well I work with others in an interpersonal setting. This is my chance to learn something new about myself. It will probably be overwhelming at first being that I have never tackled something of this caliber but I should manage just fine.

    Growing up in Reedley, I participated in an event similar to Peach Blossom which I thoroughly enjoyed. I’ve continued to read and enjoy poetry throughout my adolescence to now; seeing this opportunity, I knew I had to make a move. It will be great to participate on the other side of something I enjoyed very much as a child..”

    I wanted to be involved in something that changed my life as a kid. I was in the Peach Blossom Festival when I was 9 and had such a great experience. I feel it would be a special experience to work amongst my fellow scholars and a great opportunity to work in a group like setting.”

Social Media and Photography are responsible for creating content for the Festival’s various social media accounts and for taking day-of photographs.

    First and foremost, this course had the last remaining units for the BA requirement for myself. Secondly, the lenient schedule for this course would allow me to bring my best effort in assisting in organizing for this event. I have very personal ties to the area and and being a student of Central Unified, I now have the opportunity to give back to students that are sitting in classrooms I was in at their age.”

    As someone who works at an elementary school on a daily basis, I’ve had the opportunity to see how much Peach Blossom means to the students. Especially to the students who are often soft spoken or quiet during regular school hours, they find their voice when participating in Peach Blossom. I am very excited to have the opportunity to help make this festival happen.

    I heard of Peach Blossom when I was younger but I never got to be a part of it, so it was interesting to me to be able to be on the other side of it. I’m a site lead for one of the after school programs, and I’ve learned to work well in groups. This is my final year of college and wanted to be involved. I see this as a great way to make some new connections.

  • Why did you want to lend your talents to the Peach Blossom Festival?
    I have taken a few classes with LaDonna Hayes and have heard good things about the festival. I also think it would be a good opportunity to help create opportunities for children to experience a unique event and try something new. This will also fulfil the internship requirement for my major.”

Our T-shirts and Buttons team is responsible for the design of the annual Peach Blossom Festival t-shirts and buttons; they also research, retrieve quotes, and place the orders for those items from local vendors.

    My aspirations after college are to work with a non-profit organization via Human Resources or event coordinating, as well as fostering a great relationship with the communities I choose to work with in the future.

    I wanted to lend my talents the Peach Blossom Festival because it felt great being able to see so many successes during previous years and I wanted to continue that success with the skills I have. I thought it would be a great way for me to add on to my event coordinating abilities, as well as being able to provide whatever support I can all around.”

    I wanted to lend my talents to the Peach Blossom Festival because I enjoy participating in extracurriculars and being able to help out and much as possible. I am a very energetic and happy person so I think that my personality would be a great addition when working with others. Along with that, I believe that I have amazing communication skills and this can be used in helping anyone with anything that they need.”

The Peach Blossom directors are Communication faculty members who oversee the Student Committee that do the planning and putting together of the annual Peach Blossom Festival.

  • In her words: “It’s an honor knowing the festival means children throughout the Central Valley could experience the wonder that sparks one’s emotion of literature. I’m excited to be a part of an event that allows children to bring poems and stories alive through performance of their understanding and feeling of a piece of literature.”

Hosting so many enthusiastic, talented young students on campus and being able to assist our amazing collegiate student committee are both such an honor. But seeing some of my former students as Coordinators for schools they now teach at gives me a different level of appreciation for the festival!”
