Peach Blossom 2021 is going VIRTUAL!

This year, we are building an entirely online Peach Blossom Festival, so we can safely celebrate the accomplishments and performances of our Valley’s students, and find ways to connect with one another from home!

The purpose of the Peach Blossom Festival has always been to excite children by introducing them to oral interpretations of poetry and literature, and to allow them to have a positive experience at Fresno State! Past festivals have accommodated up to 6,000 children, and we refuse to let a pandemic stand between our Festival and the next generation of Central Valley performers.

Please scroll down to learn more about our online festival and how to enter your school!

Important Dates

March 5, 2021: T-Shirt Preorder Deadline

March 12, 2021: Video Submission Deadline

March 19, 2021: Drive-Thru T-Shirt Pickup @ Fresno State

March 25-26, 2021: The Virtual Peach Blossom Festival!

How it Works

Since we are unable to host you and your students on our beautiful campus this year, we will host you here on our website!
  • We will accept pre-recorded performance videos up until March 12, 2021.
  • All entry fees are waived this year! We want every student who want to perform to be able to regardless of tightened school activity budgets.
  • Our team will review each and every performance submission, and will write thoughtful and positive feedback to be posted along with the performance recording on our Festival dates.
  • On March 25-26, our Performance Gallery will publish, making your performances viewable to you and the public, alongside dozens of performances from other Central Valley students.
  • In addition to student performances, we will have performances from esteemed Fresno State faculty, community members, and other exciting characters your kids might just recognize!

Entry Requirements

  • Participation is limited to students in grades 1-6.
  • The maximum number of entries per school is 10.
    • These groups can be large, small, trios, duos, or solos.
      • Record your whole class on Zoom, if you want to!
  • Performances are limited to five minutes in length, and materials may be memorized or read.
  • Performances should be video-recorded in landscape format. This means a horizontally-filmed video, rather than vertically-filmed.
  • Presentations in foreign languages are enthusiastically encouraged! If the student intends to provide a translation of their selection during their performance, both the foreign language and English selections must be completed within the five minute time allowance.

How to Enter

  1. First, for every student that will participate in the recorded performances, submit a Video Waiver. If we are missing even one Video Waiver for a child in a large group, we cannot post the video.

  1. Once your waivers are submitted, upload your recorded performance(s) to your own Youtube account and submit the link to our team.

  1. Things to watch out for:
    • NO profanity of any kind. It will result in the disqualification of that performance from both judging notes and from website posting.
    • NO nudity, partial nudity, or sexual content of any kind.
    • NO discriminatory, harrassing, or hateful speech of any kind. This is up to the judgement of our team.
    • NO promotion of gangs, political groups, fringe groups, or violent criminal organizations via posters, flags, hats, etc.
    • NO reference to/depiction of firearms or weapons of any kind. Be aware of surroundings. Sometimes we have decor in our homes that might need to be moved before recording.
    • NO reference to/depiction of regulated or illegal substance sale or use. Be on the lookout for backgrounds and surroundings.
    • NO copyrighted material should be present in the recording. This includes music, TV shows, and movies.
    • Use your best judgement. This is a children’s event, and it is up to our team’s discretion if the content submitted will make it to our website.
    • If you are informed your content is not acceptable, we will do our best to alert you in time to resubmit.
  2. Once your performance has been approved, we will alert you as a reply to your submission email, and issue you and your students an official Invitation to the 2021 Virtual Peach Blossom Festival, for March 25-26.
